WhatsApp is developing a boomerang feature for its videos, much like its sister app, Instagram.

The feature will look like this: in the “Video” tab of the app, if you record a scene of fewer than 7 seconds, you will have three options: Video, GIF or Repeat. By choosing the third option, you can have a video entirely similar to what a boomerang can do on Instagram.

A video that can then be sent to a contact or added to the story also called “Status” on the application.

This feature is still under development and is therefore not available on the WhatsApp beta for now. But it could happen in the months or even weeks before coming to arrive on the stable version.

It should be added to iOS first and then sometime later on Android. However, the source of WABetaInfo, relayed by XDA Developers, could not give a date or precise period as to its final arrival.
