Facebook Acquired Gaming Startup To Compete with Google Stadia and xCloud
Facebook is stepping up its efforts in the video game world. The gaming industry has announced the acquisition of PlayGiga, which is developing its own cloud gaming solution.
FACEBOOK BUYS CLOUD GAMING PLATFORM
The latest actor to enter the ring? Facebook. The social media giant has indeed announced its acquisition of PlayGiga, spotted by Engadget.
This is a Spanish startup that works on its own cloud gaming service using proprietary technologies, and who sought, like Nvidia, to attract telecom players. The newspaper Cinco Días reports that this acquisition cost Facebook 70 million euros.
Following this acquisition, PlayGiga published on its official website that the team would “continue to work on cloud gaming, but with a new mission”. We can easily deduce that the telecom sector is no longer its main angle now.
