Will machine learning ever be able to remake the creative thing?
Trying to guess how progressive AI will become can be quite the rabbit hole, but in the period in-between there’s a poetry-writing AI having a decent feature.
The project, titled ‘Poem Portraits‘, lets you ‘Start’ a word of your own choice to an poetry-writing AI, trained on over 20 million words of 19th century poetry. You chose the word is then “instantly combined into an original two line poem” written on the fly by the AI algorithm.
The project was made by UK artist and stage designer Es Devlin, in partnership with Google Arts and Culture (it’s their website you’re visiting) and ‘creative technologist’ Ross Goodwin. Trying to guess how advanced AI will become can be quite the rabbit hole, but in the period in-between there’s a poetry-writing AI algorithem having a decent feature.
